South Australian Housing Trust is a state government entity which provides low-cost public housing to those on low to moderate incomes in South Australia. Housing SA's headquarters is located in Adelaide and is a division of the South Australian Department of Communities and Social Inclusion.

South Australian Housing Trust operates via the Service Level Administrative Arrangements established with both the Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) and Renewal South Australia (RSA). 

Its principal role is to provide housing and housing related services, ranging from emergency and crisis accommodation to private rental assistance. The organisation aims to do the following:

  • Assist people to secure and maintain affordable and appropriate housing by acting as a landlord of public housing, managing various forms of public housing, providing rental assistance and providing advice and referral on housing options and housing related issues, and supporting initiatives to increase the supply of affordable housing for purchase and rent.
  • Facilitating support for South Australian residents to attain their housing requirements
  • Administering and delivering Aboriginal housing products and services
  • Ensuring long-term viability of state-owned housing in South Australia
  • Providing and maintaining a supply of social housing for South Australians in housing need
