Gosford City Council is the local government body responsible for setting the vision and strategic direction for the Gosford region. The council is headquartered in Gosford, New South Wales and employs over 1,070 full-time equivalent staff.

The NSW Government have amalgamated Gosford City Council and Wyong Shire Council into the Central Coast Council. Godford City Council has been assigned an Administrator for a transition period until the 2017 Local Government election for Central Coast Council.
