Overview

City of Onkaparinga is the local government body responsible for setting the vision and strategic direction for the City of Onkaparinga in South Australia. It consists of five wards - Knox, Mid South Coast, Pimpala, Thalassa and Wine Coast - each represented by four Councillors with the Mayor representing the combined electorate. It employs approximately 680 people.

The City of Onkaparinga provides services to the communities of City of Onkaparinga under the following broad areas: Aboriginal Services, Animal Ownership, Building Approvals, Education, Community halls, immunisation, library, multicultural, parks, gardens and reserves, sport and recreation, rubbish and recycling, roads and transport, trees, waste and sewerage, water.

 

It is the largest local government area in South Australia and has considerable rural areas, with grapes and almonds being the most successful crops.
