Overview

Bankstown City Council is the local government body responsible for setting the vision and strategic direction for the Bankstown region. The council employs approximately 710 full-time equivalent staff and supports an estimated local population of over 200,000 people. The council is headquartered in Bankstown, New South Wales.

The NSW Government have amalgamated Canterbury and Bankstown City Councils into The City of Canterbury-Bankstown. Bankstown City Council has been assigned an Administrator for a transition period until the 2017 Local Government election for City of Canterbury-Bankstown.
