PanAust Limited is a foreign owned public company which explores for, mines and produces copper-gold and other base metals. The company employs around 3,700 people across its operations in Australia, South-East Asia and South America and is headquartered in South Brisbane.

PanAust Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Guangdong Rising Assets Management Co Ltd, a China-based infrastructure investment company.

The company’s projects include two producing assets,

  • The Phu Kham copper-gold operation located in Laos and operated by PanAust’s Lao subsidiary Phu Bia Mining Limited.
  • The Ban Houayxai a gold-silver operation also located in Laos.


The company also has several pre-development and exploration projects including

  • The Freida River project a copper-gold deposit located in Papua New Guinea
  • The Inca de Oro project a copper-gold deposit located in Chile - PanAust has a majority interest in this project through a joint venture with Codelco. Feasibility studies were completed in 2014.
  • Puthep Copper Project, Thailand - PanAust owns a 49% interest in Thai registered company Puthep Company Limited.  In 2011 PanAust commenced a trade sale process for the Puthep Copper Project which to date has been unsuccessful.
  • Myanmar Exploration Licences - Comprises three tenement blocks, Hel Chain, Pin Hin Hka and Nam Awl.
  • Phu Kham district exploration, Laos.
  • KTL Copper-Gold Project, Laos.
  • Exploration, Laos - PanAust is involved in exploration projects within the company's 2,636 Phu Bia Contract Area.
