The services division offers commercial explosives, initiating systems and blast-based services to the mining, quarrying and construction industries. The business is run globally, divided into four geographic regions: Australia/Asia, North America, Latin America and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The company operates manufacturing plants all around the world, either wholly-owned or through joint ventures.
Orica produces chemicals for use in different aspects of the mining industry. Orica produces products such as sodium cyanide for gold extraction, emulsifiers for underground blasting and water management and flotation reagents for processing complex ore. Many mining chemicals are manufactured at Orica's Deer Park facility.
Orica also produces a range of general chemicals for the food and beverage, health and personal care industries.
In March 2015 Orica finalised the sale of its non-mining chemicals business to investment firm Blackstone. The new stand-alone chemicals business trades under the name of 'Ixom'.
