Overview

Motor Accident Commission (MAC) funds and manages the South Australian road safety mass media campaign and supports road safety programs. MAC is headquartered in Adelaide and employs approximately 29 full-time equivalent employees throughout its operations.

Motor Accident Commission provides funds for campaigns and research projects that aim to reduce the frequency and impact of road injury, trauma and deaths in South Australia and sponsors the State Rescue Helicopter Service.

From July 1 2016, MAC no longer provides compulsory third party insurance due to the decsion by the South Australian Government to privatise that role. However, MAC will still act as Nominal Defendant and run-off its claims against policies up to and including 30 June 2016.
