Overview

Comcare is an Australian Commonwealth statutory authority established under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act) whose purpose is to provide the OHS and workers' compensation arrangements for employees in the public and private sectors. The Government body has regulatory functions which determine workers' compensation claims under the Comcare scheme and the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1991 (OHS Act). Comcare employs approximately 640 people and is administered from its head office in Canberra.

Comcare works together with employers, their employees and unions to keep workers healthy, safe and to reduce incidences and costs of workplace injuries and diseases. Its programs and services are used by more that 445,000 workers. The statutory body reports to the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations.

  • Provision of secretariat, policy and legislative support to the Seacare Authority
