Essential Energy is a New South Wales Government-owned corporation principally involved in the building, operation and distribution of electricity primarily in New South Wales and southern Queensland. Essential Energy is responsible for building, operating, and maintaining part of Australia's electricity network, that provides services to more than 840,000 customers across 95% of New South Wales and parts of southern Queensland’s land mass.

  • Essential Water - Offers water services to over 10,000 customers in Broken Hill, Menindee, Sunset Strip, and Silverton. It also offers sewerage and disposal services to Broken Hill.
  • Streetlights - Maintains and bills 145,000 streetlights that serve over 100 councils in New South Wales.
  • National Metering & Data - Provides metering and data services.
