Overview

The Swinburne University of Technology is an Australian Government-owned university that generates its revenue from the provision of higher education and vocational education programs. Swinburne University employs about 2,370 full-time equivalent staff, with its main campus located in Hawthorn, Victoria. Swinburne University also has a campus in the Melbourne CBD, as well as TAFE and short course campuses in Croydon and Wantirna. Internationally Swinburne University provides higher education in Sarawak, Malaysia.

Swinburne divides its operations into two separate segments, Higher Education and Pathways and vocational education.

Higher education offers higher education in health, arts, design, law, science, engineering and technology through the following faculties:

  • Faculty of Business and Law - Consisting of the Swinburne Business School and Swinburne Law School.
  • Faculty of Health, Arts and Design - Consisting of the School of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, the School of Design, the School of Health Sciences and the National Institute of Circus Arts Australia.
  • Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology - Consisting of the School of Science, the School of Engineering and the School of Software and Electrical Engineering.

The Pathways and vocational education segment offers foundation, pathway, and vocational education courses through:

  • Department of Foundation and Pathways
  • Department of Design, Media and ICT
  • Department of Business and Finance
  • Department of Health, Science, Education and Social Services
  • Department of Trades and Engineering Technology
