Overview

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is an Australian Government body that coordinates the Government's commitment and contribution to sport. It is responsible for the development and operation of the Australian sport system. The ASC employs approximately 500 staff and is headquartered in the Australian Capital Territory.

The ASC's operations can be divided into three divisions:

  • The Australian Institute of Sport - provides training facilities for athletes and coaches
  • Participation and Sustainable Sport - provides support to sport sector to build national sporting organizations (NSOs), works with NSOs to develop and implement participation plans and programs.
  • Corporate Operations - provides corporate support in the areas of: human resources, IT and finance.
