The industry produces ethanol for distribution nationally from three plants located in New South Wales and Queensland. Manildra Group produces ethanol from wheat feedstock in Nowra, NSW. This plant is estimated to account for 65.2% of the volume of domestic production.
Dalby Bio-refinery (United Petroleum) produces ethanol from sorghum feedstock in its plant at Dalby, QLD, and accounts for an estimated 22.1% of domestic production in 2016-17.
