Victoria

 

  • Alcoa operates two smelters in Victoria - The Portland Aluminium Smelter's production capacity is 358,000 tonnes a year. The smelter is a joint venture, owned by Alcoa of Australia 45%, CITIC Nominees Pty Ltd 22.5% and Marubeni Aluminium Australia Pty Ltd 22.5%. The operation is managed by Alcoa Portland Aluminium Pty Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alcoa of Australia. Almost all of the metal is exported, primarily to Japan and other Asian customers. Alumina for the smelter is sourced entirely from Alcoa's Western Australia refineries.
  • The Point Henry Smelter located in Geelong has a capacity of 190,000 tonnes of aluminium each year and also has an aluminium flat rolled products facility.  Alcoa also operates a coal mine and power station in Anglesea which provides 40% of the required power for the Point Henry plant.

 

New South Wales

  • Alcoa operates Australia's largest aluminium recycling facility and an aluminium flat rolled products facility at its plant in Yennora in Western Sydney.
