14. What is the difference between an Enterprise and an Establishment?
An Enterprise is an actual registered company, GBE, association, partnership or trust, whereas an Establishment is each physical location. If we use CBA as an example, CBA would be the Enterprise, and each of the branches and head offices would be the establishments. That's why the establishments figure is always higher than Enterprises. For more information see the Glossary of Terms.
15. Where can I find definitions on terms used on the IBISWorld site?
A glossary of all terms used on the IBISWorld website is available in the About IBISWorld menu. You can look up any term there for a detailed explanation, however if you require further assistance, please contact the IBISWorld Support Centre.
16. What types of companies are included in the Company Database?
IBISWorld has no restrictions on the types of companies in the database, as long as they are an operating entity or significantly in the public domain. We have all company types including Public (listed and non-listed), Foreign Owned, Private, Government Business Units, Trusts, Partnerships and all the combinations. The ranking system is determined on Total revenue only, and is what is used in the prestigious BRW publication each year.
17. What is an Industry overview report and where can I get one?
IBISWorld uses the Australia and New Zealand Standard Industry Classification (ANZSIC) system, which is hierarchical in nature. There are four levels in this system - the further down, the more specific the Industry becomes. IBISWorld has reports at two of these levels - the very top (Divisions) of which there are 17 and the very bottom (Classes) of which there are 465 (IBISWorld has added a further 14). The division level is what we call an Overview report. An example would be Construction. We have a Construction overview report (which is the Division level), and we also have many other more specific reports (such as House Construction) at the class level. Overview reports are available from the main menu and are the same in structure as every other Industry report.
18. How do I receive my report?
Upon receipt of payment, your IBISWorld report will become immediately viewable on our website. For your convenience, all IBISWorld reports are additionally available in 2 downloadable formats; Microsoft Word (recommended for data copy & paste), and .PDF (ideal for readability, and presentations)
